GUIDED WRITING AND OTHER METHODS FOR TEACHING WRITING
Setting students up to be successful writers
This course will provide a structure for explicitly teaching writing to both the whole class and in small group and individual settings. Guided writing enables the teacher to take a small group of students with similar needs and teach writing strategies best suited to move the students forward in writing. Methods for teaching writing strategies to help the whole class are demonstrated through shared and modelled writing.

Teachers will learn how to group students for writing. The trainer will demonstrate how assessments assist in determining teaching points assists in giving students a clear purpose for writing. Teachers will have the opportunity to explore common problems in student writing and determine how to address these issues. Through interactive writing, teachers will learn how to group and assist students who struggle in writing. All students achieve success in this writing program and learn to value writing as an enduring skill.
